Heritage Open Day at the Treasure House in Beverley

As part of Heritage Open Day, there will be a chance to go behind the scenes at the Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday, 9 September, from 10am – 4pm.

Visitors will be able to come to the Treasure House and discover a fascinating display of stories and tales about the East Riding's cultural heroes. They will be able to find out more about the men and women who have influenced art, music, theatre and literature.  There will be children's activities, including games, crafts and a treasure hunt.

As part of the Treasure House Heritage Open Day event, visitors will also be able to enjoy behind the scenes tours of the unique Treasure House building. Areas not normally open to the public are included to give a glimpse of the inner life of the Treasure House and its fascinating collections - find out about the amazing work of the Archives,  and hear about the treasures of Beverley Art Gallery.

There will be two different tours, the Archives Tour and the Art Gallery Tour. All tours are free and last 20- 30 minutes. Tours must be prebooked at http://events.eastriding.gov.uk

Heritage Open Days celebrate England's fantastic heritage and culture with a once a year chance to enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities that bring local history and culture to life.

Everyone  is welcome and the event is free. All children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. (The special events mean that research facilities in the archives will not be available on the day).
